On the 26th and 27th January 2018, ACT hosted the Annual General Meeting of EuropeFides at the Westin Dragonara Resort in St. Julian’s Malta. EuropeFides is an international network made up of lawyers, tax advisors, accountants and auditors.
The meeting started with a full day seminar on Friday during which a number of members participated. Maria Lancri from GGV Avocats à la Cour – Rechtsanwälte Paris France delivered a presentation on the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), while members from Italy, Malta, France and Portugal participated in a workshop on the cross-border legal and tax implications of owning immovable property in each of the respective jurisdictions. The highlight of the day was a joint presentation by two key note speakers, Dr Karl Sammut and Mr Steve Tendon on Cryptocurrencies and Block Chain Technology, a presentation which generated a lot of interest among member firms.
On Saturday, the general meeting was held, during which a new management committee was elected. The management committee will, in 2018, be led by Cesare Zanotto as President. Cesare is the Managing Partner of the Italian member firm, EpYon Consulting in Milan. On Saturday afternoon, the members present were taken on a sight-seeing tour during which they enjoyed a walk in the capital city of Valletta and a visit to Marsaxlokk, Malta’s charming fishing village. This afternoon excursion ended with a group photo at the Blue Grotto in Zurrieq.
The two day meeting ended with dinner at one of the finest restaurant in Mdina.
